CrossRoad Arts - Laneway Art Dinner

As Principal Sponsors for the Laneway Art Dinner, Mackay City Property are thrilled to be partnering with Crossroad Arts once again to deliver this premier event to the Mackay Community.  This year’s most unique immersive outdoor art gallery dining experience is due to be held in Mackay’s award-winning laneway, Fifth Lane on Friday the 21st of October, 2022.

Principal, Sandra Macklin from Mackay City Property, says “We applied for realestate.com.au’s Community Grant, and were a winning recipient in their most recent round.  We nominated Crossroad Arts as our community project of choice, with the aim of matching the contribution to maximise the dollars won.”

“We had wanted to do more work with Crossroad Arts, this event was a great opportunity to do just that” cited Tammy Laval, MCP – Operations Manager.  “My brother was a performance artist with Crossroad Arts in the late 90s, along with a number of his friends from the deaf community.  So to be able to give back to this organisation’s growth, and commitment to delivering an all-inclusive artistic program for our wider community was an easy partnership.  I have personally seen how their programs create a sense of belonging, particularly for those with disabilities to explore and hone their skills in performance … opportunities like these are often not available in regional locations, but because of Crossroad Arts, Mackay is extremely blessed.”

This will be an all-inclusive outdoor experience with a two-course dinner and drinks from our friends Goanna Brewer and Joval Wine Group, along with live music by Ruby Sue Music and a Crossroad Arts wearable art parade.  It promises to be an evening not to be missed!

The evening will feature a live art auction with works from various renowned artists including Archibald Prize Finalist, Digby Webster.  Digby is a Sydney -based visual artist with a career spanning 10 years, including his most recent work as a finalist in the Archibald 2020 prize.  He will be in attendance on the evening as a special VIP guest.

Artistic Director Alison Richardson says, “Our Laneway Art Dinner is the first of its kind in the city’s heart’s award-winning Fifth Lane.  We’re excited to have accomplished Sydney-based artist Digy Webster in attendance who has performed at our LOOSE ENDS and An Unconventional Tour productions.  We look forward to an evening in celebration of art, music and food!”

The event raised an outstanding $14,000 for Crossroad Arts Mackay, towards their vision of Arts for All!  All proceeds will be re-invested into the Mackay community through Crossroad Arts inclusive events and artistic programs, helping them to expand and enrich their annual program of workshops and events in regional and remote QLD.

Rumble on the Reef - 2022

Mackay City Property announced as sponsors for the Under 9’s Girls & Boys State Championship for skateboardings ‘Rumble on the Reef’ Titles in 2022.

We are pleased to be announced as sponsors for the 2022 Rumble on the Reef action sports festival including skateboarding, wakeboarding, hydrofoil and music program.  As part of our longstanding history with the inception of the competition aspect of the sport for Mackay, our company and working family is excited to have the event run its fifth year, developing into a landmark event for Queensland and the Mackay Region, at the ‘Sugarbowl’.

“Tying this together with our 15-year in operation & celebration … it was an easy choice for us to return to our grassroots support for this event, ensuring its longevity in Mackay’s sporting event program given family history with the skate facilities for the event & relationship with event coordinator Donny Fraser,” commented Chris Laval, Director for Mackay City Property.

“ProjectSk8Park holds a special place in our hearts given we watched, supported and assisted with the personal growth and development of the 12-year-old founders, Flynn Bushell & Ethan Laval, and celebrated their success after a 3-year campaign resulted in the ‘Sugarbowl’ and Camilleri Skate Park.” “More so now, with one of the founders working in our organisation, we again switch to watching his development since entering our industry! It’s a ‘full-circle’ outcome so to speak, says father, Chris Laval, of his 18-year-old son Ethan Laval, now a 3rd-generation real-estate agent who joined the MCP team, first as a school-based trainee, to a licenced agent.
